Ingredients
  

  • 1 can 15 oz / 425g canned baked beans
  • ½ cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 –2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 –2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard yellow or Dijon
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ –½ cup bacon or smoked sausage optional
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil
  • Optional add-ins:
  • Maple syrup
  • Chili flakes
  • BBQ sauce
  • Apple cider vinegar

Instructions
 

  • Heat butter or oil in a pan. Sauté chopped onions until soft and golden, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
    Optional: Add bacon or sausage slices and cook until slightly crispy.
    Pour in canned baked beans, including the sauce.
    Stir in brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
    Simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes until the sauce thickens and flavors meld.
    Adjust seasoning as needed, adding sweetness, spice, or tanginess.
    Serve hot as a side dish, on toast, with eggs, baked potatoes, or as part of a breakfast or BBQ meal.
